Conjoined IV
The annual sculptural show curated by Chet Zar opens this Friday at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica California.
I have a new piece in the show ( see previous post) and the collaborative piece I did with Chet earlier in the year will also be on display again. There is lots of top notch talent in this show so give yourself a treat and visit if you possibly can.
The Tash Stash
Horace Mooch was teased through school for his moustache which had unfortunately been installed upside down. Unable to afford a replacement he taught himself basic metalworking skills and fashioned himself a new one.
The replacement never reached his face. So exquisite was it that the Dean of his collage purchased it for himself and started a trend for handmade Tashes. So taken was he with his new found talent and popularity that he set up in business and soon became the go-to place for high end facial adornments. The little workshop was passed from father to son and is now in the fourth generation. Each Horace in turn waring their own Tash upside down in memorium of the founder.
ABS, PVC, Epoxy, MDF, Rubber, Lead, Glass, Polyurethane resin, Leather, Paper, Found Objects. Mounted on a wooden shelf.
16″ x 16″ approx.
My piece for the Conjoined IV sculpture show curated by Chet Zar. Opening at the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica on the 18th of January.
Collector Cards from Pobber
Launching on 23rd of December is a whole new screen printed adventure with Mechtorians.
Pobber ( the makers of the popular Humphrey Mooncalf vinyl toy) are launching a series of collectable cards with my artwork on them :
There is a total of 4 cards in the first set. Each Mechtorian card is limited to 250 original plus 50 GID variants. All cards are screen-printed on double thick French Construction off-white 100lb card stock in Florida USA. They are crisply printed, high quality heavy duty cards and we call them Collectible Art Cards.
All Mechtorian card orders will be shipped in custom packaging. For added protection, each card will be inside individual plastic sleeves before placed into a top loader so no scratches or dents will happen in transit to your collection. On top of that, i will be supplying some Pobber sticker goodies for every order.
The Mechtorian cards will be sold in packs of 4 for $16. You are guaranteed a full set of 4 Mechtorian character cards when you purchase a pack but not every pack will contain the GID chase variant. So exactly how many packs are there? If you have been counting, that means there are only a total of 300 packs or 1200 cards across 4 characters for this series.
Got Wood!
Each year the awesome Blamo toy company has a custom show of its all wooden art toys. Each year to date I have been too busy to take part. This year they gave me a really early warning.. so I was able to finally do something for them. The results are Mr. Edward Woodhead.
Standing 11.5″ tall and made of Wood and brass with vintage clock gears. The base is a vintage gear from a mill weaving machine.
You can view Edward and all the other works at the TAG (Toy Art Gallery) in L.A. from the 14th of December.
