It is with great excitement that I can share with you my latest collaboration with one of the original Art Toy companies, Kidrobot.
Gear up for a monstrous new addition to your collection! Kidrobot presents an epic reimagining of the King of the Monsters from UK-based artist Bruce Whistlecraft, better known as Doktor A. This ‘80s kid grew up watching early Godzilla movies on late night TV, and seeing the iconic kaiju return to the big screen in recent years inspired him to create his own tribute version in his signature retro-futurist style.
Forged from translucent, ombre burnt red vinyl, this 8-inch Godzilla art toy was meticulously designed to evoke a fiery industrial feel. “I thought the internal glow of the classic Burning Godzilla was a great match for the furnace heat of an industrial foundry,” says Doktor A.
Other industrial details include chimneys, the look of hammered metal throughout, and even working gears. “Replacing the dorsal fins with giant gears was my whole focus for this design,” says the artist. “I thought it was such a bold look without losing any of the original dynamic of the character.”
The result is a jaw-dropping fusion of monster and machine. The packaging was also designed by Doktor A and worthy of display in its own right.
Designer Con is once again traveling from California to the UK. The NEC in Birmingham to be precise. Over the weekend of Friday 13th to Sunday 15th of June. Combining forces with AnimeCon to deliver over 400 vendors, it promises to be a huge and exciting show.
Doktor A will be on hand all weekend at booth DC42. Vending original custom works. The latest Sofubi vinyl toy release (keep reading this blog) and specially selected rare items from his personal toy archive. He will be happy to sign your toys and doodle in sketch books if you ask nicely.

The retro-futuristic, robotic Shiba Inu sofubi, designed by Doktor A and produced by Lowbrowee Toys, is getting the hand-painted treatment!
For the first time a fully painted and embellished edition of the popular doggo is being released.
With an added cravat jewel and metal winding key, the 6 inch tall and 8 inch long soft Japanese vinyl toy will be released in a micro edition of only 10 pieces. Each one lovingly customised by Doktor A himself.
They will be a staggeringly affordable $225 each. And can be found at the Global Figure Showcase Booth 407 at DesignerConin Las Vegas from the 15-17th of November.

A third edition of the Shiba Inu sofubi designed by Doktor A and produced by Lowbrowee Toys will be released at DesignerCon.
This time Mugi takes on the pale yellow colour of the delicious Edwardian delicacy, still loved by Brits today.
This Shiba Inu robot Mechtorian is made in Japanese soft vinyl. Not at all menacing, he is a playful charmer (as the play pose suggests) and a snappy dresser, with his three interchangeable hats – topper, bowler, fez – one for each mood.
With his tail carried high up to reveal a fine behind, he is about 6 inches tall and 8 inches long.
The new edition is will launch at the Global Figure Showcase Booth 407 with Lowbrowee Toys at DesignerCon in Las Vegas from the 15-17th of November.

The limited edition of only 20 pieces each come bagged with a header card and all three hats.
