Coming this weekend, is a new Mechtorian sofubi designed by Doktor A and produced by Lowbrowee Toys!
Meet (Sir) Mugi Teaworthy!
This Shiba Inu doggo robot Mechtorian is the first of it’s kind to be made in Japanese soft vinyl. Not at all menacing, he is a playful charmer (as the play pose suggests) and a snappy dresser, with his three interchangeable hats – topper, bowler, fez – one for each mood.
With his tail carried high up to reveal a fine behind, he is about 6 inches tall and 8 inches long. This first colorway (grey mint) brings to mind Lady Liberty and pocket George Washington portrait prints but is mostly inspired by the interior design of Fortnum and Mason – his favorite London spot for afternoon tea. He likes cake and scones, by the way, but also crumpets.
The first edition in the lovely Mint colourway is launching this Saturday March 16th 2024 at 5pm GMT at www.mugiart.shop
The limited edition of only 20 pieces each come poly bagged with a header card and all three hats. They are $80 (USD) each plus shipping and handling.
TWO POPUP STORE EXCLUSIVES: “Thomas Nosuke” purple marble edition and Red marble edition. Each featuring an exciting two-tone rippled Sofubi body with a glowing inner mechanism and fade-tinted clear head dome.
They can only be purchased at the Tomenosuke pop-up store, which will open on the 5th floor of Seibu Shibuya Building B in Tokyofrom November 13th to November 27th.
Launched this week a new micro edition of 4 Thomas Nosuke Sofubi toys with a built in light up feature. (The colour-changing lights are controled from a small remote control handset.)
This version the 8″ Mechtorian robot is unpainted on the outside. He has a pure and clean crystal clear Japanese Sofubi on the upper parts with milky white leg arrangement.
Inside there is a Sofubi “mechanism” also in crystal clear sofubi which has been accented in a high shine chrome on some details.
A truly minimal and pure custom edition.
Each is signed, numbered and dated on the underside. Each one come in a vintage style box.
The original four editions of the popular 8″ tall Sofubi toy are about to be re-released with an exciting new upgrade.
Each of the the first four versions is back and they now sport a transparent head (tinted to match the body) through which can be viewed a glow-in-the-dark internal mechanism.
An exciting new twist on an old favourite!

My first Japanese produced Mechtorian toy is launching on March 23rd. With a different edition following each week after that.
“Tiffanyblue” is the first release on the 23rd, at 11:59 p.m. (JST). After that, the second edition will be on March 30th and the third on April 6th at the same time, but the specifications of the figure (the color of the finish) will not be revealed until the day before it’s release.
There are 40 pieces of each edition being produced. Five each for AP and PP, and the remaining 30 will be sold online. All of them will come with a resin bonus miniature accessory in the style of the space pistol that was used in the 1956 Sci-Fi Classic, “Forbidden Planet.” Thomas can be made to hold it.
