The Candy Factory

Candy machine factory Mechtorian sculpture by Doktor A.

Joshua Hipplethwaite
Confectioner and innovator, Joshua is the creator of the renown Ee-by-Gum, chewing candy.
This popular delicacy has an odd intoxicating effect on steam driven Mechtorians, but is repugnant to those who are spring wound.
One of the fastest selling sweets in history, it’s long term effects are unknown and its prohibition has been called for in some quarters.
Though he does not partake himself Joshua wised to dispense his product as far as possible.
To this end he rebuilt his own body so he could crank out the candy wherever he travelled.
First one is free! And they always come back for more.

Styrene, Vinyl, Epoxy Resin, Polymer Clay, Lead, ABS, Glass, Silicone Rubber, Copper, Aluminium, Found Objects.

For Monsters & Misfits II.
Opening 13th April at Kusakabe Folk Museum, Takayama, Japan.

Work In Progress

I dont usually show work in progress but I thought this was an interesting looking snap. It says a lot without really giving too much away.

The Critic

Oscar Lynchworthy

Constructed without limbs Oscar was a surly child.
He riled against the world feeling sidelined in his inability to do just about anything.
His parents offered to purchase appendages for him, but he adamantly remained in his self imposed funk.
His bitterness grew and festered for many years until one day he had an awakening.
A calling, a purpose, a vocation beckoned.
He would become a critic!

16″ tall.

Created for the “Conjoined II” sculpture show curated by Chet Zar opening at the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica California on the 21st of january.

Curated by Chet Zar

I  am chuffed to be included in an upcoming group show of sculptural works curated by the splendid Chet Zar.
There are some inspiring artists in this show. A lot of whom I admire greatly.
Hope my funny little robot fellow can hold his own amid this talent frenzy!

Its interesting to see the selection of artists Chet has chosen. A cross section of the pop-art worlds and the effects industry.
Never thought I would be in a show with the likes of Steve Wang! ( Go google him you art types!)
