My recentbeendoingishness…..

Right so what have I been doing lately….

Spent a splendid weekend in London recently. Stayed with the lovely Silver AJ and Andy who we just dont see enough of any more..
Did some shopping. Bumped into Jonathan Ross (literally) he nearly knocked me over in his enthusiastic dash towards the huge HelterSkelter in Selfridges… dint even say sorry… do you know he is Orange in real life…. Hmmm orange skin in a violet suit.. Nice!
Later We ran into Richard Taylor and a bunch of WETA fellows. I had a brief chat with Mr. Taylor and gave him my card as, well, you never know.(If anyone from WETA is reading this…. yes I would love to work with you guys. And I married a New Zealander so there should be no trouble with permits and stuff either…..) Then we realised Alan Lee was signing books so That was another nice surprise. Bryony had the good fortune of picking up a copy of Faries which had already been signed by Brian Froud so she was able to get the full set…
We then went to the 2000AD Zarjaz show for which I did this piece.

ZARJAZ!!
Met some friends. Had a drink which was free but horrible..but free. Met some people I talk to in Forums but have not met before in the real world.. Looked at the amazing art. Pics here :

Since then have seen some movies.. Narnia… Hmmmmm! Not bad but has some of the worst blue/green screen work I have ever seen. All the Weta stuff was top notch though..
And Kong which truly is magnificent. Lots of lovely little tips of the hat to the original and some nice references to other stuff like Brain Dead… A truly great re-make. Spot on…. go see it it’s a blast.

This last week i have been locked away making a splendiferous Xmas gift for my wife. I will post pics after Xmas as its a surprise.. I will be reshuffling the website too then as its quite out of date now.

This ia my contribution to the Zarjaz show now open in London.

See details in an earlier entry.. ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/doktor_a/28685.html )

There is a discussion and pictures of the show here http://forums.kidrobot.com/viewtopic.php?t=13989

So what have I been up to.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelll!

Recently I have been locked away in my studio working feverishly on my Nemesis piece for the ZARJAZ show in London (see earlier post for details). But thats in the post now so moving on to casting more PODLINGS which are now available to buy again from the Podling site store. I have also been sorting out another PODLING shop exclusive. This time a Brass edidion for a USA based online toy store.. More info later..
Also I have been working on my next toy line. It has four figures with a fifth secret figure which I am not quite sure how to wheel out yet. Anyway they are all going very well and will be announced in the next few weeks and be available for sale before Xmas.

Also I have just done a custom “Cr8tive Peeples” toy for a prize in Vinyl Pulse’s 100,000 visitor competition.
And it looks like I will be doing a custom Munny toy for a show in the USA to raise dosh to help Huck Gee (again see earlier post for Huck’s story).
Also I have to sort a piece of art for an upcoming book on Digital Horror Art.

I think thats all I have on right now.
Though I have the urge to do some new Poddy painting.

Been to the cinema a few times of late.Saw :
Corpse Bride.
Beautiful and perfectly animated but left me a little empty. Not got the joy of NB4Xmas.
Brother Grimm .
Very good. Splendidly enjoyable romp in a classic Gilliam style. Only marginally let down by some shockingly bad effects shots.
Harry Potter 4.
Very enjoyable but a bit rushed and seemed cut oddly. Voldemort was splendid. Dont know why they kept calling Petr Petigrew, Wormtail.. Someone explain please (I have not read, and dont intend to read the books).

PODLING show opening

There is a bit of coverage about my PODLING toy show opening last Thursday just here http://www.vinylpulse.com/2005/10/podling_show_pi.html#more

It was a really friendly evening with some great people including Miranda, Nick, Neil and Doug from Clutter, Matt (Lunartik) Jones, Wrd-One, the Tri-Clops trio, Jon Bergerman, Sichi (Hand on fire) in attendance. Playlounge’s small shop was crammed to bursting on this unusually hot October day, with customers having to fight their way through to purchase their Podlings. Much fooling was done anecdotes swapped and Podlings doodled on. After the show the crowd decanted to a nearby pub and continued to natter about all things toy and art related.

Show Pods are on the website now

It runs to the end of NOVEMBER…..
