The Future Ain’t What it Used to Be!

Opening on the 13th of August (to September 2nd) at Clutter Gallery (163 Main St, Beacon, NY 12508, USA).

My first solo show on the East coast in almost a decade.

“The Future Ain’t What it Used to Be.”
A retro-futuristic look back at how the present doesn’t quite deliver on the promises of the past. A tongue in cheek view of our own world through mechanical eyes from an alternative history.

In part this show represents my reaction to world events over the last few years.

I will be debuting some significant new original pieces. As well as a selection of smaller Mechtorian creations, resin multiples, customised toys and graphic artworks.

You can join the previews list to see all available pieces here: https://clutter.co/gallery-preview-list/

Do You Experience Feelings of Dread in Your Scullery or Parlour?

In anticipation of the new movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Sugarmynt Gallery in Pasadena is mounting a Ghostbusters themed art show.

“Yes Have Some” has been curated by the fantastic Pop Artist Chogrin and brings together an eclectic mix of artists and toy makers to present their own versions of the iconic paranormal eliminators.

Opening Nov 20th, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
At Sugarmynt Gallery, 810 Meridian Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030, USA

For this show I have created a significant new Mechtorian piece :
Frank Podmore – Ghostbuster (named after a pre-eminent 19th century paranormal investigator).

Vinyl toy parts, Epoxy, Acrylic, Steel, Brass, ABS, Polyester resin, Copper, Oak, Lead, Glass, Rubber, PVC, Vintage Camera and Watch Parts, Found Objects.
12.5” tall on base

He will be available to purchase from the show.
You may like to contact the gallery beforehand if you are interested in adding him to your collection.

This is a unique opportunity as I very rarely make pieces based on existing pop-culture characters. This may well be the only Ghostbusters related piece I ever create!

Imperial Lotus Dragon Group Show at Dcon

ADesigner Con this year Broke Piggy will be hosting an amazing custom toy art show featuring the amazing Imperial Lotus Dragon vinyl toy created by Scott Tolleson.

From 12th -14th November at Anaheim Convention Centre in L.A. you can view the dragons at Booth No. 413. Sadly I cannot be in attendance this year.

For the show I have created: The Expanded Clockwork Lotus.

A complex “exploded model” version of the dragon in the style of a Victorian teaching aid.

A slight departure from my usual style, but very much in keeping with my aesthetic.

Vinyl toy parts, Epoxy, Brass, Acrylic, Rubber, Vintage Clock Mechanism, Vintage Winding Key, Antique Wooden Base.
H 13″ D 13″ W 10″

He will be available to purchase from the convention.
This is undoubtedly one of the most complex custom toy works I have created in some time.

Above is my piece “Dr. Anthony T. Chopper”.

Designer Toy Award

Dumbfounded!
Utterly speechless…

I had not an inkling that I would win this.
Not with such a strong line up of such amazingly talented finalists as this year had.

It was a wonderful surprise to even be nominated.
But to win…….
Still hasn’t sunk in..

Thank you so much to those on the panel that put me forward and who choose the outcome.
It really is humbling to be recognized by your peers in such a way.

To know that all that work, obsessiveness, and worry do add up to something that touches people is truly uplifting.

Thank you to all my collectors, fans and followers.
I love what I do and because of you I can do it for living.
Support my family and create my dreams.. it doesn’t get much better that that..
